Dinner at Alma Cocina 2021 🇲🇽

Today I celebrated Cinco De Mayo with family by visiting Alma Cocina located on Peachtree in Buckhead ATL. Upon arrival I could tell that we had a full house. The place was packed with all different kinds of people from all over the world. As we were escorted to our table the music was definitely in the air and you could feel the beat.

I looked at the menu and I saw Oysters and shrimp meals. I ended up ordering a skinny margarita with a sugar rim and Carna Asada for my main meal. I also ordered a banana dessert. Let me share some history. Cinco de Mayo in the U.S. is widely known as a celebration of Mexican-American culture and it more than just tacos and tons of fun. Let me share some facts.

1.Cinco de Mayo isn’t Mexican Independence Day.

2. Mexican Independence Day is actually celebrated on September 16th.

3. It commemorates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

4. The French invaded Mexico pursuing money and land rights as payment for their loans.

5. Cinco de Mayo isn’t a federal holiday in Mexico. In fact, most of the celebrations happen only around Puebla, where the battle happened

I hope you have enjoyed you Cinco De Mayo and hot a chance to join in on the celebration. Check out my Picts of my day below.
